Picture of Our Story

Lela & John met in the halls of Neville High School in Monroe, Louisiana. Lela chased her dreams of Fashion Design to New York and then Dallas, while John settled comfortably in New Orleans.

Fifteen years later, they ran into each other at a wild Halloween party in New Orleans' Garden District. John, dressed as a certain leggy police lieutenant, found himself handcuffed to Lela. The keys were nowhere to be found.

The two ebbed and flowed between New Orleans and Dallas, until Lela finally moved to New Orleans after running out of Southwest Airlines points. Before the move, John boldly insisted on meeting Lela's parents for the first time at the world famous Medieval Times in Dallas.

Since then, John and Lela have travelled all over the world together. While in Japan, John staged a sunset proposal at the foot of Mount Fuji. Lela asked "Are you serious??" a lot. To John's relief, she eventually settled on "Yes."

Today, the two spend their days in New Orleans' Irish Channel neighborhood, planning their Irish wedding on account of Lela's Irish heritage. John agreed to get married in Ireland because he loves good beer, lucky charms, and chasing pots of gold.

*Update*

In July, 2024, we swapped our Irish Channel double shotgun for a charming Victorian cottage in New Orleans' East Riverside neighborhood. Lela now has space to produce her fashions and John finally has off street parking. We also have a guest room. Come see us!

We tied the knot (literally) on October 15, 2024, in a small ceremony at Ballyfin Demesne in County Laois, Ireland. Thank you all for your kind words, generous gifts, and unwavering love. We love you right back. And to everyone who came to Ireland to see the show: Sláinte!
